New Banking Regulation Excludes Those Americans Who Cannot Identify With An SSN For Religious Reasons
After getting a marketing brochure saying that "everybody gets free checking", I applied for the free checking account.  The bank President told me that he could not honor his offer to me because he was limited by federal regulations since I was unable to identify with a SSN or apply for one on the basis of my obligations of religion.  The bank queried the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the bank was told that there is no religious accommodation in the regulation.

There is much more to the story to show how sinister the practice is, but I am keeping things simple so that I can promulgate the report of our efforts speedily.  More information will be forthcoming.

Since the bank is a national bank, the proper redress is through the Comptroller of the Currency.  Here is my letter requesting religious accommodation, citing what I believe to be the governing law.

Here is the first response of the Comptroller of the Currency that acknowledged my correspondence and assigned a case number.

Parallel to this, I have approached the Secretary of the Treasury by written Correspondence.  I have explained to him that his regulations are a burden upon our religion.  I am trying to overcome the burdens of his regulations through the organizations that are applying them.  However, it may be impossible short of filing suit against the Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of Health and Human Services.  Either we have to have a court declare that I, my household, and those of my religious community are immune from identification with the national identification number or that the Social Security Administration is required to remove our names from their numbered records, and prohibited from adhering our names to their records unless each of us expressly, and cognitively do so.
